Reflection Of Karbala’s Event
Jahaalat meri kaise dikhe
Jab bekhabr jaan Aaine se
Aaina hi surat bataaye mujhe
Aaaina milta uski maherbaani se
I seek guidance from my teachers (PIRs) and Imam Shah Karim al-Husayni (S.A).
My teachers taught me that a mirror reflects our selves. Similarly, events in the lives of the holy prophets and holy Imams also reflect upon their followers.
We all understand the profound significance of Karbala's event. Rather than recounting it, I wish to explore its profound reflection.
On Karbala's battlefield, Imam Husain (allaihi sallam) rode with his followers while facing a massive Yazid army. Though Imam Husain (allaihi sallam) had few soldiers, his devoted followers stood by him. Despite the option to leave, these individuals chose to remain out of unwavering faith and loyalty. Their sacrifice reflects their deep reverence and devotion.
What does this mean in the 21st century? Why do we repeat this story every year? The moral of that event resonates in our present.
Today's battleground isn't physical; it's an era of knowledge and information. Enemies of the Imam (S.A) wage an intellectual war, spreading misinformation and baseless historical narratives to mislead his followers.
Allah (S.W.T) clarifies everything in the Quran (36:12). Yet, ignorance persists. Consider Karbala: Did Yazid not know Imam Husain's lineage as the Prophet's (s.a.s) descendant? How could one raise arms against the Prophet's (s.a.s) progeny while claiming to be Islamic?
Similarly, the world knows Imam Shah Karim al-Husayni (S.A) descends from the same lineage as Imam Husain (a.s).
Followers who abandon the Imam (S.A) due to baseless criticisms from his enemies resemble those who deserted Imam Husain (a.s) at Karbala's crucial moment.
They question the Imam (S.A): Why this? Why that? Oh, unaware ones, do you not respect the Imam's authority (4:59)? Such ignorance! Would you question him if the Prophet (s.a.s) were physically present today and made changes? If so, you might abandon him, too, valuing pride and desires over truth.
Nature dictates quality over quantity. Many post meaningless things online; those who abandon the Imam (S.A) after reading such content are not true followers but hypocrites.
They stray from the straight path (Sirat al-Mustaqim), forgetting Surah Al-Fatiha (1:1-6). These lost souls are like wanderers.
The Imam always remains the Imam; the followers need the Imam (S.A), as stated in the Holy Quran for the People of the Book (5:15).
Seventy-two followers stood by Imam Husain (a.s) till the end, true spiritual heirs and mirrors of the Imam of their time. Their hearts are the throne of the Imam.
These followers exist in every era, facing their tests. When puzzled, they pray to the Imams, who guide them through teachers (PIRs) (3:103), imparting knowledge to recognise the Imam, much like a mother nurtures her child, handing it to the father's care.
This is the reflection of Karbala. Its lesson persists until Judgment Day due to people's ignorance and arrogance.
Only love for the Imam of our time can dispel ignorance. I pray the Imam never tests us severely and remains with us in every trial. O, Imam e Mubin, keep our hearts fertile with your love's rain.
If anything is wrong, it's me; otherwise, shukran alillah walhamdulillah.
